Central stay

good hotel and room is fine. forum is just a couple of minutes to walk. plenty of bars, restaurants and pubs nearby. second time visiting groningen and staying in eden. after check out play billiard to kill time. breakfast is price competitive compared to eating outside and recommandable. staff is super friendly. compared alternative price indexes (booking, trivago etc.) and researched that their own website was more favorable.

One nights stay

The staff was really helpful and friendly. Room was fine, clean and nice beds. Bathroom small but everything you need in it. Only thing was that you could hear the people coming in in the evening and night, quite good. That’s not great when you’re trying to sleep. After 01.00 I didn’t hear anything anymore. The breakfast is super and I really liked the look and style of the lobby and restaurant.

Yes - they do it right!

Had no expectations whatsoever - and it was all so good! Had a lovely and very welcoming check-in on Wednesday afternoon 24th January - we had two single rooms for two nights and felt so welcome from the very beginning. The rest of the stay was equally welcoming, and we loved the breakfast at the City Hotel (the best scrambled eggs for a long time!) - not the widest selection in this world but all that was available was of high quality and well presented. Just praising the fantastic team that made us feel so welcome! Late check-out on a Friday afternoon was beautifully handled by another staff member the night before at a nominal charge - to be honest, nothing seemed too much trouble for this lovely team that managed to guarantee us a most welcoming stay at the City Hotel for our two-night stay (#521 and #516) from 24 to 26 January 2024. When in Groningen - don't miss this out! Just an easy 10-12 min walk from the railway station, a lovely team, perfect breakfast for a 3* hotel, and a fantastic location to explore the city also across the canal next door. Loved it, really!
